Button Mappings

#1

I’ve taken to adding a few custom button mappings to make common tasks easier. I’m only adding things slowly to ensure that I really do use them once I add them. But here’s what I have so far:

  • Throttle — based on :xbox_rb: for forward thrust, :xbox_lb: for reverse thrust
    • Max forward throttle — :xbox_rb: :xbox_dpad_up:
    • 75% forward throttle — :xbox_rb: :xbox_dpad_right: (tip from Ghost Giraffe)
    • Zero throttle — :xbox_rb: :xbox_lb: or :xbox_rb: :xbox_dpad_down:
    • 75% reverse throttle — :xbox_lb: :xbox_dpad_right:
    • Max reverse throttle — :xbox_lb: :xbox_dpad_up:
  • Ships Modules — all based on :xbox_b:
    • Chaff — :xbox_b: :xbox_dpad_left: (replaces default Ship Lights)
    • Ship Lights — :xbox_b: :xbox_left_click:
    • Deploy Heatsink — :xbox_b: :xbox_right_click: (so that I don’t have to use a trigger to deploy them anymore)
  • Targeting — all based on :xbox_a:
    • Target next system in route — :xbox_a: :xbox_lb: (replaces Decrease sensor zoom)

This is also to make it easier for me to remap things if the button mappings get wiped for whatever reason as happened in a recent bug in the Xbox One version of the game.

Someone on /r/EliteOne suggested these controller mappings as what they use because they fly model helicopters:

  • Normal Flight
    • Left Stick
      • Up/Down — Vertical strafing thrusters
      • Left/Right — Yaw
    • Right Stick
      • Up/Down — Pitch
      • Left/Right — Roll
    • :xbox_rb: — Throttle up
    • :xbox_lb: — Throttle down
  • Landing controls
    • Left Stick
      • Up/Down — Forward thrust
      • Left/Right — Lateral strafing thrusters
    • Right Stick
      • Up/Down — Pitch
      • Left/Right — Roll
    • :xbox_rb: — Vertical strafe thrust up
    • :xbox_lb: — Vertical strafe thrust down
    • :xbox_lt:/:xbox_rt: — Yaw
